Research on COVID-19 Spreading Through HVAC Systems
From January 26th – February 10th, 2020, 10 cases of COVID-19 were recorded between 3 families, all of which had one thing in common… They all ate at the same restaurant in Guangzhou, China. After a close study, researchers decided that it was not likely that the virus was spread through large droplets from person-to-person contact. Instead, they believe “micro-droplets” were spread from b airflow via a wall-mounted air conditioner in the dining area.
In another Study (that has not yet been reviewed by peers), researchers from Oregon Health and Science University Hospital swabbed three different Heating and Air Conditioning systems with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. They then found that after an adequate amount of runtime on the systems, 1 of every 4 samples returned positive for the virus.
